San Bernardino County Fire Department offers the following programs: The San Bernardino County Fire Department Bulldozer program, Fire Explorer, Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), Emergency Communications Service, and Paid Call Firefighter. The San Bernardino County Fire Department jurisdiction encompasses more than 16,000 square miles of extremely diverse environments jurisdictions including highly urbanized metropolitan areas, all of the major transportation corridors; both interstate and rail, into and out of Southern California, mountain resorts, and vast tracts of high use recreational desert lands. They provide services to 65 communities/cities as well as the unincorporated area of the county.

San Bernardino County has approximately 325 paid call firefighters (PCF). They are utilized in three different ways. First Responder units are staffed entirely by paid call firefighters. These firefighters respond to all emergency incidents within their jurisdictional areas and are supported by full-time companies from adjoining jurisdiction. The County Fire Department is made up of 431 vehicles, 4 boats, 10 breathing support units, 7 loaders and dozers, 7 snow cats, 19 station generators and 67 compressors.
